High Tea and Heels Guide to: Christmas

It may already be too late for some of you (very organised) people out there, however here is the High Tea and Heels Guide to Christmas! To ensure you have a glamorous and gorgeous festive time, I have put together the ultimate shopping list and style guide.

This year I have opted for a modern red and white theme, with polka dots, cut out reindeers and jingle bells all colour coordinating.

For a true feel of Christmas, you can't beat a real tree.  For the more budget conscious, Ikea are due to have theirs delivered on the 6th December at £25 per tree, or try Chopwell Wood for something more local. I have also spent hours and hours scrolling through endless pictures on Pinterest, so I'm not even going to attempt to show you a snippet - go see for yourself!

Gift idea for the ladies...

For the traditional 'I am man, you are woman' gift, you can't beat a good old bottle of perfume as a Christmas present. This isn't just any old bottle of perfume though, this is the Jo Malone Cologne Collection. At just £64, this limited edition gift set with all the gorgeous classic scents, will guarantee the mistletoe won't be wasted this time! Best place to buy is the boutique within Fenwicks, Northumberland Street. The lovely ladies will make sure the gift is wrapped to perfection, and will also offer more Christmas gift advice should you be struggling - what more could you ask for?!

Gift idea for the gents...

With it being the height of Movember, I can't help but notice all of the dashing men sporting the designer stubble/tash. However, more often than not, there are some horrors that could do with a good groom. When I think of grooming for men, there is only one brand that springs to mind - Penhaligon's. I love the shop in Edinburgh, however if you aren't on your travels prior to Christmas, you can purchase online. I love the traditional shaving sets, that are now so rare. This nickel plated shaving set is handmade in Sheffield and made with ethically sourced badger hair. I'm considering this a bargain at £136, which will have the man in your life not only grooming more, but loving you for it.

What to Wear: for the Christmas party

I *love* dressing up for a Christmas Party, whether it be just drinks after work, or the full on traditional party night, there is always an underlying theme - sparkle! There are so many choices out there at the moment that are perfect for keeping in your wardrobe for a good few seasons - which makes quite a refreshing change from past seasons where the style has been too 'of the moment' that never makes it past three months wear.  Here are my top picks:

Air Alex Flared Dress
French Connection - £150
Sequin Tinsel T-Shirt Dress
Topshop - £70
Sequin Bodycon Dress
Oasis - £68
LK Bennett at House of Fraser - £165 (on sale from £225)

Pair any of those dresses with these beauties and you've got your party officially started!

adara, black/other shoe by carvela kurt geiger - women shoes occasion
Kurt Geiger - £140

What to Wear: for the main event

Remember, you are going to eat a lot of food, so you need something that is at least comfortable.  Before you make like Joey from Friends in Phoebe's maternity pants*, here are a few of the more forgiving styles for Christmas Day.

Urban Outfitters, Christmas Jumper - £40

This jumper is perfect for the 'cosy up by the fire and fully embrace everything about Christmas' look. It goes well with any jeans or skirt, but best to keep jeans skinny (I recommend jeggings for the stretch element - think of the dinner!).

Jessie Jegging Jeans
Oasis, Jessie Jegging Jeans - £28

For a laid back 'too cool for Christmas' look, opt for a basic smock top with jeans. Simple, fuss free styling for a calm and collected day.

Coast, Rita Skirt - £125

For the full on 50's glamour 'check me out' look, there is only one skirt. Head to Coast (quick, there is drastically low stock) for the Rita skirt. It has been all over the fashion press lately, and with the popularity of Mad Men/Masters of Sex, who wouldn't want to dress like this??!!

Best Christmas blow-out...

The general rule of thumb for Christmas shopping is that you can't buy for everyone and not treat yourself. So for the ultimate blow-out treat I am loving this Lulu Guinness main-stay. So perfect for Christmas parties, it is the most girly clutch bag you will ever own and last you many, many fabulous years. Available in different shades, check out your perfect pout on the Lulu Guinness website.

Persepex lips clutch bag
Lips Clutch - £245

To get all organised with your buying and planning, check out this amazing Christmas companion, currently half price on Amazon. Oh yes, it's a Cath Kidston piece of course.

Christmas Organiser - £9.75 (on sale from £18)

Happy shopping!
