Catching up at Fat Buddha Newcastle

I'll admit it, I am rubbish at making time for things. In every way possible. So when it comes to catching up with friends, I'm very grateful I still have any considering the lack of time I give them at times. Issues aside, I was recently invited along to Fat Buddha Newcastle to try out their cocktails and menu. Having only ever visited the Durham restaurant, I was keen to take them up on their invitation and invite my BFF along.

We started out with cocktails - how any meal should start really. I got the Lychee Martini, however I would have loved to see some lychees on a cocktail stick a-la-actual martini. It was delicious, and made me even more hungry.

For a starter, I tried the Dim Sum Platter which was great to share. The dumplings were cooked perfectly, and just bite sized enough to make you want more.

We moved on to try Pan Fried Beef Fillet with Teriyaki Sauce and the Pork Kakuni. We also ordered the Yang Zhou as a side dish. This isn't for the faint hearted - it could have fed around 6 people as a side dish. Fried Rice, Char Siu Pork and King Prawns - although delicious, it completely defeated us.

Not so much defeated that we didn't have room for dessert - for which we opted for Thai Caramelised Banana. What I did notice, the desserts are very reasonably priced. More and more restaurants are trying to get away with charging £8+ for a dessert, and I'm just not having it. This dessert was only £3.80 and worth every penny.

We had a great catch up over great food and great wine - we just need to do it more often.

If you want to give Fat Buddha a try - they have partnered up with NE1's Newcastle Fashion Week to bring you Martini Manicure Monday. For more information, visit here.
