milk_shake brings all the boys to the yard...

After a chance catch up with Bernice from Sorted PR whilst at work, I was invited along to a press launch of milk_shake hair care. As you may know, I currently work for Marriott Hotels; so this was also an ideal opportunity to see everything from the other side. Armed with a cocktail (which was matched to the ingredients in milk_shake hair products by my colleague Andy) and my trusty Happy Jackson notebook (not entirely sure where I'd be without this) - I settled in with fellow blogger Tasha, and the North East press for an afternoon of hair care.

Claims of 'natural beauty without compromise' and 'natural and vibrant results' are an instant hook. One of my favourite ever hair products is the Lush American Cream; not only for the smell but for the amount of natural products that are crammed in to one bottle. Then milk_shake turned up and offered something a little different...

milk_shake is a company that is not stocked on the high street, and only available in salons or online. Offering not only just shampoo and conditioner, they also have a huge range of natural colours that are available as treatments in salons. This is a theatre in itself as the direct colour is added to the Whipped Cream product to make up a cocktail. This is a great way to showcase the product, and is quite eye-catching. On the press day, we were tasked with making up our own colour-cocktail - my effort clearly not as professional as the brochure image...

The lovely Neville Ramsay and his team from A-List Salons were on hand to throughout the afternoon, who not only prepped the models, but also treated us to a wash and blow dry with the products. This was my first try of it, and I was hooked as soon as I could smell the sweet concoction of coconut, cocoa and strawberry. I also had the argan oil treatment, and my hair was super sleek, shiny and swishable. Here's my hair after finishing a day at work and a couple of drinks out on the quayside - still smooth and swishy.

At the end of the day we got a fab goodie-bag, including Integrity Shampoo, Conditioner and Whipped Cream. One of the products I am absolutely loving is the Whipped Cream. Light and smelling oh-so-gorgeous, it's a fantastic leave in conditioner for when your hair needs that little extra care and needs to be light-weight enough for styling. It smells delicious - good enough to eat thanks to the natural ingredients. It's also a great detangling product. I have LOTS of hair, and I didn't even need to brush my hair through before blow drying. It also limits the amount of heat you need if you're trying to create a sleeker, straight look. I didn't need to use hair straighteners, just a hair dryer alone with a barrel brush.

I'm going to end with a big thank you to Scott Spock for capturing my game face here...I was determined to win the milk shake cocktail competition (alas, I didn't).

I also must have quizzed poor Neville far too much on hair colouring here too...

Let me know if you do try any of the products - I'd love to know what you think!
