Lunching with Dior at Jesmond Dene House

These last few months have been crazy for me. New job, house hunting, working tirelessly, etc etc; and one thing I craved was to take some time out, cast aside the to-do list and let the world wait for a few hours. Every girl deserves time off, right? My usual go-to stress buster is normally a spa day, but it this time it was a ladies lunch that caught my eye this time. I'm not sure at what stage you start wanting to go to ladies lunches? Usually held mid-week for the 'ladies of leisure', they normally include flower arranging or similar activities of that ilk, which are a little bland for me. This one, however was very different; held at Jesmond Dene House on a Saturday afternoon and hosted by Dior, what wasn't to love?

To many who know me, Jesmond Dene House holds a dear place in my heart; mainly as my workplace managing events, n top of that the whole feel of the place gives me goosebumps every time I drive up to it. You feel like you're arriving somewhere - and somewhere you actually take notice of. It's refreshing having a building of this grandeur in a stones throw from the city centre considering how much of Newcastle is now so modern.

Armed with my BFF ready for the afternoon, it took no time at all before we were whisked in to the Great Hall Bar, glass of Prosecco in hand and a whole host of canap├ęs for our delectation. Once seated, in quite possibly the grandest of halls of Newcastle, the star of the show introduced himself and his team of glamazons. Jamie Coombes is one of the highly celebrated team of MUA's for Dior; mainly working on shows, red carpets and product launches. He is also the King of the Selfie; working the entire room of ladies, with snaps all over the shop. Throughout the afternoon, there were demonstrations, make up tips and testers of everything that was used around each table.

Demos and selfies over, lunch was served in true Jesmond Dene House style. The kitchen is the true heart of this House, and Michael Penaluna has been Head Chef at JDH since taking over from Pierre back in 2011. Traditional, down to earth cooking which is polished and refined; so much so the kitchen has retained the 3 AA Rosettes consistently throughout the years. Everything about the lunch was perfect, and a great way to end a very girly afternoon. The whole afternoon was priced at £36 per person - which is amazing value for what was included. There's also a future Dior event at JDH coming up, focussing more on fragrance and including Afternoon Tea. Definitely one to watch out for.

The goodie bags were also packed with treats to take home; Diorshow Maximizer Lash Plumping Serum, Dream Skin and Dior Addict Lip Maximizer. BTW - they're all on my shopping list, especially the Dream Skin. Everyone was given the chance to have their skin colour matched to the spectrum of colours in the Dior foundation range. I'd visited the Dior counter ahead of the lunch earlier in the week and got the Diorskin Star Foundation; which was perfectly matched to my own complexion. It glides over your skin; especially when you use the Backstage Blender, and gives a great coverage if you are concerned about blemishes and dark spots.

It was such a great way to put everything to one side for just one afternoon and indulge in some me-time; definitely recommended for when you're in need of pressing pause on a hectic week.

  1. Dear,
I read your blog, its really awesome,
I am seeing that you are selling home. I have also a site related to you.
It is a common issue on real estate if a person is going to purchase or rent a property. Of course, there are so many benefits that a homeowner can get compared to the renters.
