New beginnings...

So, it's been a while...

I've had the 'summer off'- a sin amongst the hardened bloggers; yet necessary for me to refocus, regroup and get promoted. I started this blog back in 2013, where I embarked upon a new direction in my career. Now two years on, I've had a promotion through hard work and determination. Something had to give, as it always does, and blogging was the main one. When you're spending up to 12-14 hours a day on your laptop looking at figures as your day job, the last thing on earth you want to do is open up another laptop and spend hours blogging.

I've been thinking a lot recently of the blog, and what it should be (what even is it?) and where to go with it. There are so many great bloggers out there, and it's hard when you're constantly comparing yourself to others and feeling as though you're not good enough. I've figured it out though - I just need to stop spending time obsessing over the unnecessary, and spend more time doing stuff. I'd just rather write and be happy about it than forcing out words that are meaningless. Even content is a huge question - again, I'd rather publish a post which means something to me and is relevant to my life, rather than just selling out to any old content. I was quite pleased when I read Hannah's latest over on Raspberry Kitsch to see she is having similar problems with her blog. Hannah's a hardy blogger; so it's refreshing to know that even the professionals get a moment of obscurity.

Things have calmed a little after a hectic summer, and I've come out the end of the tunnel with a renewed energy. I've been up to a lot over the last few months in whatever spare time I had; festival going, house hunting, WI hosting, and I still plan to write about it all. So there's lots to look forward to on High Tea and Heels, and hopefully a happier me. Cue lots of planning, lists and cups of tea...
