Feel the love...

Valentines weekend has come round again, and I promised myself that I would have a more positive outlook on the whole situation. It's easy to hibernate and be miserable in January/February - and why not, it's the law. One of my biggest habits is not looking on the bright side, and sometimes creating my own little huffy world, when really all I should do is suck it up and smile. So this year, instead of just being my hyper-loving self for one weekend, I've decided I'm taking it on for the full year. Just like dogs aren't just for Christmas, love isn't just for Valentines either. It also just isn't about professing your love for someone and buying lavish gifts, it's just putting a little love in to everything you do. Valentines Day is the first day of Random Acts of Kindness Week, where doing just the smallest of act of kindness can go a long way. You can follow the efforts of everyone joining in by following #Pledget2beKind and #RAKWeek. Here's just a few little ways you can show the love without breaking the bank, or gushing just that little bit too much...

You don't have to be the most creative in the kitchen to dish up a knockout. Everyone loves a meat and cheese board - make yours with heart slates from John Lewis to keep it pretty. Missing from the image is the 2 massive baguettes that were demolished.

Plate up some pretty for someone on an afternoon where you have declared it's a pyjama day and make sure its their favourite tea and cake. Obviously mine is Teashed, in a big Cath Kidston mug with a couple of slabs of Battenberg.

To kick start RAK week a little early and to celebrate Valentines, at work I left a little treat for my team on their desks on Friday. Unfortunately I had the idea just a little too last minute, and didn't make the cakes myself (shame on me) so these little beauties are from Greggs and skillfully wrapped by me. It's not just about giving to your beau, it's about celebrating what you love about each person. And everyone loves a cupcake, right?

So if you do one thing this week, make it a random act of kindness and be a happier you. I hope you all have a lovely Valentines weekend, and continue to spread the love in your own little way this week...
